Published 1 Comments

The NXT stars were back at Full Sail University for the first time this year where they taped four episodes, airing from January 13 through to February 3.

The episodes that have been taped will lead into the next set of tapings that take place on the Royal Rumble weekend of January 22 and two big matches have been announced for those set of tapings.

In the first episode that airs on January 13, Carmella won a battle royal to be crowned the new number one contender to Bayley’s NXT Women’s Championship, and the two will clash for the title on the next set of tapings.

Apollo Crews is in action next, and he takes on the Perfect 10, Tye Dillinger. Crews – as expected – picks up the victory as he continues his impressive run on NXT. After the match, Crews is on the microphone to address Finn Balor.

Crews issues a formal challenge to the NXT Champion and even says their clash doesn’t even need to have the championship title on the line.

One of the things independent wrestling fans were looking forward to the most over the last few months was the arrival of Rich Swann. The 24-year-old has certainly made a name for himself on the independent scene, especially Dragon Gate USA and he finally makes his television debut in the coming weeks.

His first test isn’t easy, though, despite getting a great reaction from the fans in attendance and putting on an excellent match, Swann was unable to defeat the dominant Baron Corbin.

Women’s action next as number one contender Carmella teams up with NXT Women’s Champion Bayley to take on Emma and Alexa Bliss with Dana Brooke in their corner. Carmella continues her impressive run by making Bliss tap out for the victory as Bayley embraces her friend once more with their title match looming.

With Tommaso Ciampa returning to NXT in the first episode it’s only right if Johnny Gargano is in action as well. However, Gargano was unable to follow in Ciampa’s steps as he was up against Samoa Joe and was forced to submit.
