With Chelsea on the road to recovery, the last thing the ravaged club needed was tensions rising between two key players.

Whilst Oscar has since shrugged off the incident and Guus Hiddink dismissed the issue as ‘two wolves bumping chests’, the Brazilian’s clash with Diego Costa remains a raw and nebulas topic.

It seems to suggest that although the Jose Mourinho era is fading away daily, the dressing room is still frayed from the Portuguese’s tenure.

Negative press

Chelsea’s debacle this season has been highly publicised and similarly has the erratic behaviour of Mourinho. Eva Carneiro’s employment tribunal has demonstrated that the ‘Special One’ is still wounding the club.

Moreover, the Oscar-Costa scenario seems to have further accentuated the mess that Hiddink has inherited.

Even beyond the sack, whether it be training ground bust-ups or court cases, Mourinho is still chaffing away at Stamford Bridge.

As a result, the Blues are being pummelled with negative press week after week albeit they are improving in their performances. The sooner they can escape the controversy, the quicker they can turn their backs on their catastrophic 2015-16.

Bust-up

Details of the nature of Oscar and Costa’s clash in training remains cloudy and although the pair seem to have settled their differences, it must be of concern to Chelsea fans.

It was clear that in the latter part of Mourinho’s reign that the dressing room was becoming disjointed and fractured. However, this shows that the squad remains frayed and is yet to return to harmony.

Equally, the clash can be seen as promising, with two key players simply displaying passion but the pair holding a grudge can hardly benefit the Blues on match day.

Even if the duo sorted the situation out immediately, their actions have already kickstarted a vicious rumour mill.

Unfortunately, the whimsical control of Mourinho has seen Hiddink handed an anarchic dressing room plagued by a stagnant start to the season. As a result, two high-class players clashing was nothing short of inevitable.

However, not only has the incident detracted away from Chelsea’s resurgent form but it exemplifies how damaged the squad is amidst their mid-table dwellings.

A minor incident or a festering feud, no one can be sure, but it undoubtedly proves yet another piece of negative press rooting from Stamford Bridge on an endless supply line.
