Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister has blasted those responsible for vandalising her brother’s statue - situated in their native Madeira - with Lionel Messi graffiti this week.
Officials are still searching for the vandals who wrote ‘Messi 10’ on the back of the statue after the Barcelona superstar beat his old rival to the 2015 Ballon d’Or award - and Katia Aveiro, Ronaldo’s sister, expressed her dismay with the vandalism via a post on Twitter.
Turns out she was so incensed that she wrote the ‘frustrated savages deserve to live in Syria’ - yikes. Scroll down to see the Twitter post in full.

"We all know how proud I am of this person [Ronaldo] -- I could spend hours talking about his acts of goodness and qualities. As a Portuguese I am left sad and ashamed.
"Thanks to him [Ronaldo] there has been tourism, jobs created and investment on our lovely island which unfortunately is inhabited by some frustrated savages who deserve to live in Syria. People who have no respect and do not know how to live in society."
Ronaldo's sister is right to feel angry
In fairness to Ronaldo’s sister, it’s hard to disagree with her comments - it was an immature thing to do - but her idea about sending the individuals responsible to Syria is probably a little on the extreme side.
Ronaldo’s statue was unveiled in 2014 in the presence of the Real Madrid star and close relatives, and it made headlines around the world for its rather unnecessarily fine detail, shall we say, around the groin area.
