Barcelona are expected to complete the loan signing of Celta Vigo playmaker Nolito.

This is according to Mundo Deportivo, who understand that talks between the two clubs have begun and a deal is already close.

Nolito has been one of the standout players in the Spanish top flight this season - the 29-year-old has scored eight goals in 15 league appearances for his current employers - and will act as cover for Neymar and Andres Iniesta on the left-hand side of Barcelona’s attack.

Catalan newspaper Sport claim that talks have “intensified over the last few hours” and the deal may involve an option-to-buy clause for the European champions.

Meanwhile, Sandro Ramirez or Munir El Haddadi - or potentially both - could head to Celta Vigo as part of the deal.

Barça drop interest in Denis Suarez - for now

Barcelona will subsequently drop their interest in bringing Denis Suarez back to the Camp Nou from Villarreal. The Catalan giants have a buy-back option on the 22-year-old and could return for him in the summer if they fail to sign Nolito on a permanent transfer.

Blow for Arsenal

But news that Barcelona have all-but-secured Nolito’s services may come as a blow to Arsenal, who have been linked with the Spain international in recent weeks.

Nolito will struggle to make Barca's first XI

There’s no doubt Nolito has taken a risk joining Barcelona, but it’s his dream to join the Blaugrana - five years after he first left the club for Benfica.

With Barça competing for La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, there will be opportunities for the attacking midfielder.

But there’s little chance of him making Luis Enrique’s first-choice XI - despite his immense talent.

Will Nolito help Barcelona secure another treble this season? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
