The second-half of the season is well underway and it’s well and truly crunch time for Manchester United and Louis van Gaal. According to The Times, the Dutchman will be sacked if his team lose pace with the Premier League’s top four - they currently sit sixth in the table. Of course, the defining game could be the one that takes place this weekend against Liverpool, so Van Gaal will no doubt pray for victory. Apparently, again from The Times, Old Trafford chiefs are concerned about Champions League qualification. Elsewhere, Van Gaal caused controversy after the draw with Newcastle United by labelling a journalist a ‘fat man’. In answer to a question regarding negative statements about Wayne Rooney, LVG said ‘you have criticised him, I don’t. You too fat man’. Hot water, indeed.
