Five players Manchester United could sign before February 2

Published 4 Comments

There’s a real danger that Manchester United will fail to secure a top-four finish come the end of the season.

Louis van Gaal’s side have failed to convince since the opening day of the 2015-16 campaign. Results and performances simply haven’t been good enough.

Van Gaal recently insisted that United are unlikely to make any new signings this month - but the pressure will be ramped up on him to improve his squad if the Red Devils are beaten by rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Aleksandar Dragović | Dynamo Kiev

At the time of writing, Aleksandar Dragović apparently now plays for Manchester United - that’s if you believe Wikipedia, which you really shouldn’t.

The 24-year-old centre-back has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent days and there’s a realistic chance he could sign for the Premier League giants.

Nemanja Vidic joined United in the January transfer window and that one didn’t work out too badly.

Felipe Anderson | Lazio

If Van Gaal wants to inject some serious pace into his attack then he needn’t look any further than Lazio’s Felipe Anderson.

The 22-year-old, who has been capped once by the Brazilian national team, is lightning quick and devastating in one-on-one situations.

Saul Niguez | Atletico Madrid

It was reported earlier this week, by the Mirror, that Manchester United had opened talks to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.

The 21-year-old has an £18 million release clause which, when you consider his talent and potential, could work out to be a real bargain for the Red Devils.

However, Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague revealed on Friday that Saul is not interested in leaving the Vicente Calderon for Old Trafford this month.

Sadio Mane | Southampton

The bookies - per the Manchester Evening News - believe Sadio Mane is the player most likely to sign for Manchester United before the transfer window closes.

United bid for the Southampton star over the summer but were unable to secure his signature; however, an increased bid may tempt the Saints to cash in.

Mane was recently dropped by Southampton boss Ronald Koeman for missing a pre-match meeting and this could be a sign that his mind is already at Old Trafford.

Alexandre Pato | Corinthians

Corinthians are trying their best to offload Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato before the transfer window closes - and the Daily Mail understand that both Manchester united and Chelsea could make a move for the 26-year-old.

There’s no doubt United require some additional power - despite Wayne Rooney’s apparent return to form - and Pato, the former AC Milan star, would be a cheap option.
