Following the shock news that Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will be handed transfer bans for the next two windows, struggling Atletico striker Jackson Martinez will seek confidence knowing he has time to prove himself in the Spanish capital.
With just three goals to his name in 21 appearances, the Colombian has failed to replicate the goalscoring form that saw him become one of Europe's hottest prospects at FC Porto last season.
Luckily for the 29-year-old, his poor form hasn't impacted Atletico's this campaign, with Diego Simeone's side currently top of La Liga.

The ban will come as a relief to Martinez, who now has the security of time on his hands to find his feet at the Vicente Calderon. Simeone, alongside all those involved at the club, will hope that less pressure will help their summer signing to ease the goalscoring burden currently placed on Antoine Griezmann and enhance their title bid.
It's not just Martinez struggling to find the net, of course, with Fernando Torres similarly enduring a barren spell amidst his loan from AC Milan.

With their strikers' form in mind and the winter transfer window past the halfway mark, Atletico must now choose whether to stick or twist on their squad.
Griezmann's impressive run suggests goals will never cease in the Spanish capital, yet should the Frenchman ever sustain an injury, panic could soon set in.
Simeone, though, insists he has confidence that Martinez will rediscover his goalscoring touch.
Following his side's 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano last week, he said: "The goals will arrive because he has them [in his game]. It is a matter of waiting."
Having already signed two midfielders in Matias Kranevitter and Augusto Fernandez this month, Atletico’s business appeared to be over; following their transfer ban, however, Simeone may just be pondering further signings.
Only time will tell if Martinez can rekindle the goalscoring form that earned him a move to La Liga, yet there's little doubt the striker will breathe a sigh of relief knowing there's now ample time to prove his worth.
