Diego Costa welcome at PSG admits David Luiz

Published 1 Comments

Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz has insisted that he would welcome Chelsea striker Diego Costa to the Parc des Princes.

Speaking to the Mirror, Luiz, who departed Stamford Bridge in favour of a move to the French capital in 2014, has hailed Costa as 'one of the most clinical strikers in Europe'.

In fact, the Brazil international has insisted that there are two sides to Costa, insisting that the enigmatic forward is one of the nicest guys you can meet off the field.

Luiz may well have had his run-ins with the striker recently but he certainly has a great deal of respect for him.

Luiz stated: “Diego is one of the most clinical strikers in Europe, he would be a welcome addition to any team. I think PSG have made their intent clear over the last three or four seasons, that we only add the best player.

Costa to PSG

“If Diego decides he has had enough of England and wants a new challenge, of course he would be welcome here. Diego and myself have had our clashes on the field, but you must understand there are two Diego’s.

“On the field he is physical, he is confrontational, he will get in your face, that is part of his game. Off the field he is a good friend, one of the nicest guys you can meet, somebody I would go to dinner with.”

Champions League showdown

PSG and Chelsea are set to go head-to-head in the Champions League Round of 16 next month. Laurent Blanc's side, of course, knocked the Blues out of the competition at the same stage last season, so will be desperate to once again overcome the Premier League side.

Chelsea will certainly start the game as underdogs; Guus Hiddink's side have endured a torrid campaign, currently sitting in 14th position in the Premier League.

Europe's elite competition, then, will come as a welcome distraction for the west London outfit but they will have to be at their best to secure their place in the last eight. One thing is for sure, Costa and Luiz look set for another couple of epic battles.
