Liverpool chiefs are in talks to sign Shakhtar Donetsk forward Alex Teixeira, according to the Daily Mail.
The Brazilian is currently in Florida with his club playing a friendly tournament and it’s understood that Anfield delegates, including chief executive Ian Ayre, have flown out to open talks.
The 26-year-old is valued at around £29 million and has been in impressive form this campaign, scoring an incredible 22 goals in 15 matches in the Ukrainian league.

Chelsea are also rumoured to be interested but Liverpool have made the first move and it’s reported that they’ve already offered £23 million for the former Vasco de Gama man.
Teixeira was left out of Shakhtar’s squad for their friendly on Wednesday night against Corinthians with the manager Mircea Lucescu stating that the player had picked up an injury.
Teixeira has been capped for Brazil at Under-20 level but is keen to move from Ukraine to England in a bid to win his first full-international cap.
Anfield is likely to attract him with compatriots Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva already in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
Teixeira’s natural position is attacking midfielder, although he can occupy the number nine role which Firmino has often played this season on Merseyside. With Liverpool having scored just 25 goals in 22 Premier League matches, it’s no surprise that Klopp is looking to add attacking players to his ranks.
