The Daily Mail and the Mirror were last night amongst those saying a £7 million fee had been agreed with Corinthians and a three-year contract offered to 'The Duck', who recently rejected a lucrative move to the Chinese second division because of his desire to play in the Premier League.
Yet his agent GIlmar Veloz has today insisted that Liverpool are amongst the four teams who are still in the running for the 26-year-old.

Speaking to UOL Esporte in Brazil, Veloz revealed that Kia Joorabchian and Giuliano Bertolucci - Pato's other representatives - haved failed to encourage a formal bid.
"The guys are working on getting an offer, but Corinthians are yet to receive one," he said. "The January market is very limited."
When asked which sides are still in the race for the former AC Milan star, Veloz added: "Chelsea, Liverpool, Sporting [Lisbon] and Benfica. All four have a chance."
This goes against Jurgen Klopp's comments from last week, when he told journalists not to "follow the Pato path".
Linked with many English sides as his Corinthians contract enters it's final year, the Brazilian side are desperate to get Pato's wages off their books. He arrived in 2013 after an injury-ravaged spell in Milan, where he still scored 63 goals in 150 games.
Criticised by fans after some poor performances and shocking misses, Pato was loaned to deadly rivals Sao Paulo. Here, he rediscovered his scoring touch, meaning Corinthians are paying him to score for their neighbours. So they want him gone immediately.
It's unknown whether Veloz's claims are legitimate or just a last-minute ploy to entice more money from Chelsea.
