The rumours linking Neymar with a shock move to Real Madrid intensified on Thursday after a Spanish radio station claimed the Barcelona star met with an official from the Bernabeu in Zurich last week.
Onda Cero - per the Mirror - claimed that a meeting took place to discuss a potential move to the Bernabeu when the player was in Switzerland for the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
However, Neymar’s father has come out and set the record straight, easing the concern of Barcelona fans that the Brazilian superstar could be tempted to join their fierce rivals in Madrid.

"The meeting in Madrid is a silly invention,” Neymar Snr. was quoted as telling Mundo Deportivo by Goal. "We were all together in the same hotel, the Barca and Madrid parties, and we greeted everyone, but the meeting is an invention.
"Andre Cury [an agent who usually handles the affairs of Barcelona in South America] is a Barca employee, so how are we going to meet with Madrid if he was there? It does not make any sense!"
Neymar Snr: Only I can negotiate a deal
Neymar’s dad also says that his son’s agent, Wager Ribeiro, does not have the power to negotiate a move elsewhere for his star client.
He added: "I am the sole representative of Neymar and the only one who can negotiate. Me, not anyone else."
Neymar likely to stay at Camp Nou
Neymar, who has a £140 million release clause, has made it clear that he’s happy at the Camp Nou playing alongside the likes of Luis Suarez and his idol Lionel Messi.
The 23-year-old is producing spectacular performances, scoring goals and winning trophies, so it’s highly unlikely he would agree to join another club.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is a huge admirer of the South America, however, while Manchester United are keen to bring the 2015 Ballon d’Or finalist to Old Trafford.
