Could Pep Guardiola really end up at Manchester United this summer?
It was reported towards the end of last year, by Kicker, that a deal between the revered Catalan coach and Manchester City had all but been agreed. The only thing left was for Guardiola to put pen-to-paper on a contract.
Since then, however, there have been several indications from Guardiola that he’s keeping his options open amid reported interest from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

On Thursday evening, respected French publication L’Equipe threw the cat amongst the pigeons by revealing that the current Bayern Munich boss, who will leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the season, met with Manchester United representatives at the Hotel Bristol in Paris last week.
This is the information obtained by Thierry Marchand, a reliable journalist from another well-respected French publication, France Football.
Van Gaal could leave United this summer
If true, this is a clear indication that United are determined to land the former Barcelona manager, despite earlier reports that Ed Woodward and the Glazer family are happy with Louis van Gaal, ahead of Manchester City.
It was revealed earlier this week - by the Mirror - that the under-fire Van Gaal could walk away from Old Trafford this summer, a year earlier than planned, which would allow Guardiola to take over without the need for Woodward to fire a second coach in the space of less than two years.
Guardiola had ambition to manage United
In the excellent book, Pep Confidential, it was claimed that Guardiola had revealed his desire to manage Manchester United one day in the future.
He visited Old Trafford during his first season in charge of Bayern Munich and, according to the Independent, is understood to have said: “I like this atmosphere. I could see myself coaching here one day.”
That day could happen sooner than we all thought.
