Adnan Januzaj has been named on the Manchester United bench against Southampton as the 20-year-old bids to make his Old Trafford return.

Following a disastrous loan spell with Borussia Dortmund, Januzaj has returned this month with everything to prove to United manager Louis van Gaal. The Dutchman was seemingly happy for the young winger to leave before Dortmund cut the one-year loan deal short without exercising their right to buy.

However, having shone recently for the U21s, Januzaj has done enough to be named amongst the substitutes and many United fans took to Twitter to react.

The Belgian winger remains popular with many of the Old Trafford faithful, having progressed through the academy into the first team during David Moyes's sole season as manager.

Many fans were surprised when Van Gaal chose to loan Januzaj out in the summer and have subsequently tweeted their appreciation at his return.

Many United fans even tweeted their disappointment that Januzaj was only on the bench with Jesse Lingard preferred to start on the right for United.

If Januzaj features from the bench it will be his first appearance for United since August as he hopes to emulate these five other players who proved their clubs wrong.
