WWE has been heavily criticized for the predictability of the last two Royal Rumbles after Batista and Roman Reigns were thought to have been the prime candidates before the Rumble match even started.

This year's event was very different, it was a surprise entrant that won the match and it wasn't as predictable as many had first feared.

THE LUNATIC CHAMPION?

Dean Ambrose had already contested a Last Man Standing match for his Intercontinental Championship, which he had managed to retain earlier in the night. And, as he edged closer to being the last man standing in the Rumble, there was a brief moment during the match where is seemed as though he could become the first ever dual Intercontinental and World Champion.

Sadly, this moment was just fleeting and it was the King of Kings himself, Triple H, that eventually managed to sit on his throne.

The match itself, though, was a great showing from WWE throughout and it even managed to set up some storylines heading into WrestleMania season.

THE ROAD TO WRESTLEMANIA

As every WWE fan will now know, we are officially on The Road to WrestleMania. This means that the Royal Rumble itself had to begin many feuds and it well and truly managed to deliver from that perspective.

Brock Lesnar vs The Wyatt Family had some great storytelling and finally someone managed to take Braun Strowman off his feet, this will hopefully now progress into Fastlane and beyond.

WWE SummerSlam 2015

AJ Styles made his long awaited WWE debut and a feud with Kevin Owens could be in the works after his elimination, but the former TNA Superstar had a fantastic, memorable showing on his debut.

Sami Zayn was also a part of The Rumble and there is a feeling that he could also join the Owens vs AJ Styles feud after last night's antics.

Not to mention that the speculated main event for this year's WrestleMania is now all but official after Triple H took away Roman Reigns' World Championship.

Remember, Roman has an automatic rematch clause and he can decide to cash that in whenever he wants. It will be interesting to see how this plays out heading into Fastlane as well.
