John Cena uploads gym photo to Twitter in latest injury update

The WWE Universe witnessed the return of one of the biggest names in the business last night, as The Rock made an unexpected appearance on Monday Night Raw.

And yesterday also brought with it signs that another of the WWE's top stars is making progress towards a return of his own.


That's after John Cena posted an update to his official Twitter account showing what appeared to be his first time back in the gym since undergoing surgery on his shoulder earlier this month.

Cena suffered a rotator cuff injury in the first week of January and early prognosis suggested a recovery time frame of anywhere between six-to-nine months.

Whilst Cena's gym photo doesn't mean that time frame has been adjusted, it is nevertheless a boost for those in the WWE Universe hoping for a speedy recovery for the 15-time champ.

And WWE fans have already shown their excitement via social media, as shown by some of the below examples:

It is certainly a more positive update from the WWE Superstar than those he has offered in recent weeks on social media. In fact, his last photo uploaded showed him lying in bed undergoing treatment on the injury.

A strong Royal Rumble show will have given the WWE hierarchy hope that they can survive without Cena for a little while longer. Still, any possibility of Cena returning to the ring quicker than expected will always be welcomed.

Unfortunately, despite his return to the gym environment, it is impossible to say just how far down the line Cena is towards his recovery. Photos will encourage his fans, but they aren't quite the same as seeing him duelling in the ring.
