Cristiano Ronaldo will not leave Real Madrid any time soon, according to club president Florentino Perez.

The Portuguese star has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bernabeu, with former club Manchester United and PSG amongst clubs interested in signing him.

But Perez is adamant that Ronaldo, who has been at Madrid since 2009, is going nowhere.

“He is Di Stefano’s heir and he is very happy here, so he is not going to leave Real Madrid,” Perez told AS.

The Spanish club were issued with a transfer ban earlier this month meaning they will be unable to sign any players during the next two windows. However, Los Blancos have appealed the ban, which was given to them after allegedly breaching rules concerning singing international youngsters.

Perez has hit out at FIFA for the transfer ban and insists that his club are completely innocent. He also denies that Zinedine Zidane will be making any transfers during this current window - despite it, potentially, being the last chance to do so for 18 months.

“The FIFA sanction is hurtful. It is a very serious matter to smear Real Madrid’s reputation in this way,” the 68-year-old said.

“We are convinced that it is all a mistake; it is ridiculous to think that Real Madrid will be punished for a matter concerning the protection of minors when the children have always been a priority for us.

“We are not going to be making any signing in the January window but that doesn’t have anything to do with the ban, it is because we have the best players and the best coach.”
