The San Diego Chargers have taken a big step towards their possible move north to Los Angeles by making a very interesting purchase.
The Chargers are reportedly close to agreeing a deal with the new Los Angeles Rams for a stadium share, but there is one thing that may have sealed their fate.
Moving to the OC
The Chargers now look set to make the big move North with the purchase of land in Orange County that could be the base of the team's head quarters.

The team has been surrounded by rumours of a relocation since the end of the regular season and now it almost looks certain to happen.
The move North wouldn't be as drastic as the move out West that the Rams have taken, but it would see LA go from no NFL franchises to two of them in a little over a month.
The purchase was first reported in the San Diego Union Tribune and the franchise - rather than hide from the claims, have addressed them publicly.
"The plans are for a five-acre parcel in Santa Ana that would be the location of the team’s interim headquarters and training facilities in the event the team exercises its option to relocate to the Los Angeles area." - Statement released by the Chargers
More than just claiming to be evaluating scenarios, the statement would go on to claim that the reason they have purchased the land now, is to give the natural fields time to grow before their off-season training program.
With the purchase of the land, the Chargers all but officially confirm their plans to join the Rams in LA, leaving the city of San Diego in limbo.
San Diego to be Raided?
The third team interested in a move to LA was the Raiders, who with the Chargers seemingly set to move, now face the tough choice of staying in Oakland or finding somewhere new.
San Antonio, Texas has reached out to the team but the most likely option has always been for them to replace the Chargers in San Diego.
Will San Diego become the new Black hole? Or will the Raiders choose to leave California and seek refuge somewhere else?
