5. Manchester United captaincy
The Serbian defender was handed the captain's armband by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2010 after Gary Neville lost his place in the starting XI.
Vidic capped off a brilliant year of individual performances later in the season by scoring the winner against Chelsea in a 2-1 victory, ending the Blues’ title hopes and helping United wrap up the title the following weekend.
4. 2012/13 Premier League title
Following his return from a serious knee injury that sidelined him for the second half of the previous campaign, Vidic returned to the pitch hungry for success and steered the Red Devils to their 20th league title.
It would be the last Premier League trophy the former Serbia international would lift before departing the club for Inter Milan on a free transfer in July 2014.
3. Premier League Player of the Season 2010/11
Vidic’s first season as captain at Old Trafford not only led to a league title, but also to claiming the Premier League Player of the Season award.
Alongside Rio Ferdinand, the imposing centre-back formed one of the greatest defensive duos of the Premier League era and one that has not come close to being matched since their respective departures.
2. Premier League 20 Seasons Awards
The 33-year-old, who earned a place in the Premier League Team of the Season four times between 2006 and 2011, was voted into the public’s choice 'Fantasy Team of the 20 Seasons' side.
Featuring alongside Arsenal legend Tony Adams, Vidic’s inclusion in the star-studded team all but confirmed his status as one of the most respected defenders in Premier league history.
1. 2008 Champions League final
That famous night against Chelsea in Moscow will likely go down as the biggest match in Vidic’s career. He played an integral role alongside Ferdinand in the United defence, keeping the Blues at bay for 120 minutes and helping his side to triumph 5-4 in a dramatic penalty shootout.
Vidic will cherish 2008 even more so after United missed out on another Champions League title in 2011, losing 3-1 to Barcelona at Wembley.
