Time is running out for clubs in the Premier League to sign new players as the season approaches its latter stages.

We are already at the end of January, which can only mean one thing: transfer deadline day is on the horizon.

Indeed, in what has been a fairly quiet period for a number of clubs in England's elite division, things could yet explode tomorrow.

There's still a chance that some very big deals will come to prominence. But which clubs will act? Will Leicester City improve their squad as they go in search of securing the Premier League title? Will Manchester United finally make their move in this transfer window?

At this stage, it's far from certain, but there's always a chance of one or two surprises on deadline day.

Here are three of the biggest deals that could take place on deadline day:

Sadio Mane to Manchester United

Sadio Mane to Manchester United was a hot topic at the start of the transfer window. In fact, the Mirror claimed that the Red Devils failed with an attempt to secure the forward's services from Southampton.

But with United clearly still in need of attacking players, it wouldn't come as a major surprise if the club's hierarchy made a last ditch call to the Saints.

Manchester United v Southampton - Premier League

Mane would certainly change the dynamic at Old Trafford; he would add a great deal of much-needed pace to the team and would certainly act as great competition for the club's attacking stars. United may well become desperate tomorrow, so it would be foolish to completely write this one off at this stage.

Marcelo Brozovic to Arsenal

Mohamed Elneny may well have already arrived at Arsenal to steady the ship in the middle of the park, but the Gunners could yet act again before the deadline. Marcelo Brozovic has been linked with a move to the north London club recently, but will Wenger gamble on him on deadline day?

FC Internazionale Milano v US Sassuolo Calcio - Serie A

Well, it's clear for all to see that Arsenal are still short in midfield. It's far from certain as to whether Jack Wilshere will return to the field of play anytime soon while veteran Tomas Rosicky, who returned during Saturday's FA Cup clash, looks set to miss another six weeks of the season after picking up yet another injury.

It certainly wouldn't come as a major surprise if Wenger opted to sign Brozovic. Currently on loan at Inter Milan from Dinamo Zagreb, Brozovic, who is only 23-years-old, has scored two goals in 16 league games this season.

Alex Teixeira to Liverpool

We're all quite aware that Liverpool are interested in securing the services of Alex Teixeira. In fact, it appears that the player is quite keen on a move to Merseyside.

Unfortunately for Liverpool fans, though, that doesn't necessarily mean the club will be able to get the deal over the line. The Shakhtar Donetsk ace appears to be going from strength-to-strength in the game, but it remains to be seen as to whether the club's hierarchy come up with the goods.

If Liverpool are serious about securing a place in the Premier League's top four, manager Jurgen Klopp certainly needs to add to his squad before the close of the transfer window. Perhaps, then, the club should take the gamble and pay up for Teixeira.
