Transfer deadline day was barely up and running before Atletico Madrid looked to complete what would have been arguably the window’s biggest deal, and at Chelsea’s expense. The Mirror claim that they made two bids for Diego Costa today, one which included Jackson Martinez in a swap. The Blues were strong in their resolve however, turning down cash then the chance to get Martinez - they clearly want Costa to stay. Now, if you missed it at the weekend, John Terry will be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer after failing to secure a new deal. The Chelsea captain has penned an emotional statement to fans, saying he had mentally accepted it. He also admitted it wouldn’t be a fairytale ending, but one gets the feeling there’s more to come between him and the Blues moving forward.
