Pep Guardiola has been confirmed as Manchester City’s next manager and Manchester United fans on Twitter are understandably feeling an immense sense of disappointment.

One of United’s highest-profile fans is the club’s former player, Rio Ferdinand.

The retired defender has expressed his bitter disappointment on Twitter, admitting the news of Guardiola’s appointment at Man City has “messed up my day”.

“Pep signing for City has really messed up my day,” Ferdinand tweeted. “His records at Barca & Bayern are unreal..he goes anywhere close to them heights & its😢😢”
