Italian journalist angry after being poked with inflatable banana

With time running out on transfer deadline day, it's safe to say that it has all been rather underwhelming. 

Transfers, as expected, just haven't taken off; there has been the odd deal here and there - Mathieu Debuchy has joined Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux while Watford have completed the signing of Abdoulaye Doucoure - but nothing has really blown us away...until now.

We know what you have all really been waiting for and you are in for a treat. Sky Sports News reporters may well have stopped hanging about outside football grounds around the country on deadline day, but it appears broadcasters in Italy haven't quite received the memo.

Ultimately, then, one reporter working for Italian broadcaster SportItalia opted to stand outside Stamford Bridge (perhaps they were wrongly informed of a big deal coming out of the Premier League champions).

Ah, well, live from west London, things didn't exactly go to plan. One man, who remained fairly straight-faced throughout the episode,  decided to take it upon himself to place an inflatable banana in the face of a poor journalist.

For the rest of us, the incident was quite amusing, but the Italian journalist clearly didn't feel the same way. He just had to react...

In an amusing turn of events, the journalist grabbed hold of the inflatable banana and started bashing the mysterious man.
