Just before Christmas, Michael Owen was mercilessly trolled on Twitter because of his pre-season Premier League predictions.
The retired striker predicted that Chelsea would win the title, Manchester United would finish second and that Leicester City would be relegated in 19th position.
Clearly, his trolls had all correctly predicted Leicester would be leading the Premier League table midway through the season and that champions Chelsea would suffer a disastrous first half to the campaign, culminating in the sacking of Jose Mourinho. Twitter trolls, as we all know, have never made a single wrong prediction in their lives.

Owen has now made a few amendments to his original top-four prediction.
He believes Leicester City will finish in fourth place - which would still be a hugely impressive achievement - behind Tottenham. The former Liverpool and Manchester United striker has Arsenal finishing in second position, and Manchester City winning the title in Manuel Pellegrini’s final season at the Etihad Stadium.
Owen believes the fact Leicester are not in Europe, have the experienced Claudio Ranieri as their manager and the in-form Jamie Vardy upfront means they’ll secure a top-four finish this season.
“I really fancy them to have a good push for the title,” Owen told the Premier League’s official website. “It could be a real tight title challenge come the end of the season.”
The influence of manager Mauricio Pochettino, the goalscoring ability of Harry Kane and the strength of their defence means Owen fancies Spurs to finish third at the very least.
“The Premier League is probably their best chance of silverware, but I think they’ll come second.”
Owen is not confident that Arsenal will end their long wait for the Premier League trophy. In his words: “I don’t think they’ve improved loads on previous years”.
On Manchester City…
“I certainly think they’ve got the best squad,” Owen added. “[Sergio] Aguero is going to be key for them.”
The BT Sport pundit believes the presence of Vincent Kompany and the experience of manager Manuel Pellegrini will see them over the finish line in first place.
Michael Owen’s revised top-four prediction
1. Manchester City
4. Leicester City
