As the ultimate underdogs they have rapidly become everyone’s second team, however, were Leicester City to achieve the unthinkable by winning the Premier League title, Sky Bet will certainly not be joining the celebrations.
Whereas last season’s champions Chelsea won the popular bookmaker a £150,000 profit, Claudio Ranieri’s side could cost them around £5.25 million this year.
Back in August, following Nigel Pearson’s surprising dismissal and amidst the widespread scepticism of Claudio Ranieri's appointment, The Foxes could be backed at just 9/2 to be relegated.

However, potentially inspired by blind optimism, one fan decided to place a £40 bet on Leicester to finish top of the table at 5000/1, meaning he will pocket £200,000 should they become just the sixth team to win the Premier League.
Elsewhere, speaking to Sportsmail, Leicester fan Andrew revealed that he will win £33,000 if they win the title, or £8,333 should they finish second, all from a mere £5 each-way bet.
Obviously inspired by unwavering loyalty he revealed: "Every year I place a bet on Leicester to win the league they are in.
"When they won the Championship I won £140 and so when they were promoted to the Premier League, I placed the same £5 each-way bet at 5000/1.
"I also put on a bet Leicester finishing in the top four (£5 at 500/1 to make £2,500). I am very confident at that bet coming in but as to winning the Premier League, well let’s just see."
Despite Leicester’s impressive consistency throughout the season, Sky Bet continued to offer odds of 1,000/1 in November, while the Foxes can still be backed now at 5/1.
Commenting on the increasingly alarming situation for the bookmakers, head of PR Sandro di Michele said: "It's great to see a Leicester City supporter having a speculative bet in August that is now a serious runner in February.
"If Claudio Ranieri's team did the unthinkable it would be a terrible result for us as we currently stand to lose over £5m if Leicester win the league.
"However, it would be the greatest ever achievement in the history of the Premier League and who wouldn't want to see that."
Ranieri’s side face a major test of their title credentials when they travel to the Etihad to face Manchester City this Saturday.
