Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera insists he's happy to see Pep Guardiola take charge at Manchester City at the end of the season.
The Spanish midfielder also attempted to heap the pressure on the former Barcelona boss, claiming that City fans will expect the club to win the Premier League title at a canter.
Guardiola has been confirmed to take over at the Etihad Stadium in the summer, replacing current boss Manuel Pellegrini.
The arrival of Guardiola has caused a stir amongst Manchester United fans, who have grown increasingly frustrated with current boss Louis van Gaal - although reports continue to suggest that Jose Mourinho is being lined up as his replacement.
Regardless of who is in charge at Old Trafford next season, Herrera knows Manchester United will have to up their game to get back to the top because of the presence of Guardiola - and has backed his side to do just that.
“I’m looking at it from a positive point of view. They’re going to make us better," he told Spanish newspaper Marca. "Historically, City have always been below United, and this gives them a psychological advantage, because they are coming from behind."
The former Athletic Bilbao ace couldn't resist ramping up the pressure before the Bayern Munich manager's arrival however, pointing out that Guardiola will have to deal with massive expectations upon his arrival in the Premier League.
“With Pep, with the multi-million pound outlay they’ve made and will spend with him, I expect the pressure to be higher for them. The fans are going to expect a lot: that they win the Premier League with a 10-point gap, that they reach the Champions League final.
“Pep seems a phenomenon to me. His teams entertain me a lot, but at City the expectations will be very big.”
Manchester City currently sit seven points clear of Manchester United in the Premier League, although Pellegrini's side are currently 1-0 down against Leicester in today's early game.
