Paris Saint-Germain will launch a £77.2 million bid for Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets in the summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Barcelona’s underrated star has been identified as the French club’s top target as they prepare to battle Manchester City for the world’s best talent in the summer transfer window.
Busquets has a £115.8m buy-out clause that PSG have the wealth to activate, however they are keen to acquire the Spanish midfielder for nearly £40m less.

The Daily Mail reported on Saturday that Busquets was a summer target of City’s, with new manager Pep Guardiola keen to recruit the player who played an integral role in his successful ‘tiki taka’ system at Barcelona.
Whichever team gets their hands on the 27-year-old will be signing Barcelona’s best tackler this season. According to WhoScored, the midfielder has made 63 total tackles this season, 21 more than any other Barcelona player.
Nonetheless, nearly £80m is an astronomical figure to pay considering reports suggest Juventus star Paul Pogba, five years Busquets’ junior, can be signed for a similar fee.
Laurent Blanc’s team have a 24 point lead at the top of Ligue 1 and are long overdue a strong run in the Champions League.
PSG haven’t advanced beyond the quarter-finals since 2001-02 despite becoming one of the richest clubs in the world in 2011 thanks to billionnaire Nasser Ghanim Al-Khelaifi’s investment.
Luis Enrique will be reluctant to sell Busquets, a player who has quietly become one of Barcelona’s most important players since making his debut in 2008.
