Arsenal fans are used to seeing their team’s title bid falter at the final moment and one of their former players fears the same thing could happen this season.
The Gunners have been near the top of the table all season and, with Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Petr Cech all shining, the Gunners have once again given fans hope of ending their 12-year wait for a Premier League title in May.
But Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe, who joined Arsenal’s academy at the age of six, fears Arsene Wenger’s team could let their desperate supporters down once again.

The 22-year-old said: “It would be great if Arsenal win the title but it has been the same story every year,” reported The Sun.
“This is the time of the season when they normally fall behind and start losing games they should be winning.”

Afobe left Arsenal permanently last year after a series of loan spells in the Championship.
He signed a professional contract at the Emirates in 2010 but didn’t manage to play a game for Wenger’s side.
Arsenal leapfrogged Manchester City into third in the table after beating Afobe’s Bournemouth 2-0 on Sunday but, with Leicester, Tottenham and City in the title race, the England forward realises the task can only get tougher.
He continued: “They obviously have a lot of world-class players and I have only good things to say about them.
“But there are a lot of fantastic teams fighting them for the title this year and also a lot of teams no-one believed could be in the race.”
Leicester are one of the teams Afobe alluded to. The Foxes are the surprise leaders of the division and further enhanced their reputation with a 3-1 win against Manchester City on Saturday.
Arsenal welcome Leicester to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in a game that could have big implications for the title hunt.
Afobe added: “Arsenal’s next game against Leicester this Sunday is obviously massive.
“People keep waiting for Leicester to start dropping points but they keep on winning and now they have the confidence that they can actually win the league.”
Afobe signed for Bournemouth for £10 million last month from Wolves. He scored in each of his previous three games before Sunday’s defeat.
