During his time in WWE, Bryan had a connection with fans that very few wrestlers are lucky to achieve in their careers. The mutual respect shown since his retirement became public knowledge shows that it wasn't for show.
Taking it in
The 34-year-old, speaking backstage after his emotional retirement speech on Monday Night Raw, admitted he hadn't had time to read over all the messages of support he had received on social media.
"Sometimes the quantity is overwhelming with something like this...maybe I'll read them tomorrow," he said.
"Today I was just trying to get out there and be able to do that without completely breaking down."
48-hours on from the announcement, it looks like he has seen at least some of the vast amounts of tweets sent in his direction.
Whether the WWE are able to replace Bryan with another star who can connect with the crowd like the 'American Dragon' did remains to be seen. The reaction to this week's events show it will be easier said than done.
