Eli Manning inadvertently produced one of the most memorable moments of Super Bowl 50 on Sunday when footage of his less-than-enthusiastic reaction to the Denver Broncos' fourth-quarter touchdown went viral.
The touchdown, of course, effectively secured Denver's win over the Carolina Panthers and, with it, big brother Peyton's second Super Bowl success. As the jokes goes, Eli appeared to have taken the idea of having to share the title of 'most Super Bowl rings in the Manning household' pretty badly.
Now, though, Manning Jnr. has revealed just what was going through his mind to cause his joyless expression:

"I was just focused on whether they'd go for two and the defense had to step up and make some stops," Manning explained to SplashNewsOnline.com.
Manning's rather sensible explanation for his reaction somewhat ruins the joke, but it's unlikely to stop the video's popularity. That doesn't seem to concern the Giants quarterback, however, as he described the memes et al as "all good stuff."
Considering Eli's own history with late Super Bowl dramas, it is perhaps no surprise that he didn't join the rest of his family in jumping for joy when CJ Anderson went in for his touchdown. He has played in the NFL long enough to know that the game isn't over until the clock winds down to 0:00.

Fortunately for Eli, Peyton and the whole Manning family the Broncos were on the right side of the result when the game did expire on Sunday. Still, even his younger brother isn't admitting it, you have to feel Peyton's second ring grates just a little.
