Is there anything Lionel Messi can’t do?
The Barcelona star’s latest trick involves hitting the crossbar from the corner flag. He even did it in his first attempt, if you believe him.
Messi posted the video to his Facebook page. The aim is to get others to film themselves completing the challenge and post the videos on social media, akin to the ice bucket challenge of two years ago.

Check out Messi’s brilliant crossbar challenge below.
It really is a magnificent video. Lasting 19 seconds, it features just Messi, a corner flag and a goal. It’s a contrast to the overly-dramatic effects that are commonplace in football adverts these days.
After striking the crossbar, Messi walks away without making a sound. He knows - as do we - that he’s a genius.
The Argentine celebrated his fifth Ballon d’Or title last month, pipping Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo to the award after helping Barcelona to a La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League treble in 2015.
He’s kicked off 2016 with a bang, too. The forward has scored 11 goals in 10 games, including two hat-tricks, since the turn of the year.
Next internet craze
The crossbar challenge video was made in partnership with Adidas and it’ll be interesting to see if Messi has launched the next big internet trend. At the time of publishing, the clip has been viewed nearly 1.5 million times and the Barcelona star certainly has the reach to make the challenge incredibly popular among football fans eager to repeat Messi’s skill.
