Fans were left surprised this past week on Monday Night Raw when The Dudley Boyz put The Usos through a table, turning them heel in the process.

The decision to turn them heel is fantastic and one that was needed for quite some time. Their return to the WWE brought a sense of excitement and they were valuable additions to the tag team division.

But after their countless battles with The New Day, they were left floating around doing next to nothing.

HEEL TURN

However, DailyWrestlingNews.com are reporting that this isn’t an ordinary heel turn to mix things up in the tag team division.

Instead, the reason they’ve given is that the WWE officials have recognised how successful Bubba Ray was as his Bully Ray character during his run with TNA and they understand that he’s a natural heel, so this is a way to get the best out of him while they can.

This heel turn that has taken place suggests the WWE are potentially interesting in giving Bubba an opportunity to shine as a singles competitor, and it would seem a smoother transition if both Bubba and D-Von turn heel for a while, rather than just one.

SINGLES PUSH

The only doubts they’re reporting is that a potential heel run for Bubba Ray doesn’t mean we will see the highly successful Bully Ray character in the WWE anytime soon, despite subtle references to the character in this week’s episode of SmackDown.

If the WWE can find a way to bring in the Bully Ray character without breaching any rules, they may look to capitalise on that because there’s a good chance most of the crowd know what he was up to during his time away from the WWE.

The other issue is that if fans know who Bully Ray is, what his gimmick is and how he is portrayed on screen then the WWE then the WWE won’t want to use a storyline which has previously been used in TNA – especially if it’s so clear.

BULLY RAY IN THE WWE?

The likelihood is that a singles heel push for Bubba Ray will result in some small changes in the Bully Ray character to it’s not as obvious if it does take place.

We know how talented he is, he’s done it all in the WWE as a tag team competitor and he’s proven as a singles star as well. It’s time the WWE put some faith in him, give him the ball and the creativity and let him run with it.

There are plenty of avenues they could go down regarding how they portray him as well as potential feuds if done correctly then the character could eventually go down as a huge success.
