Benzema has been in fine form this season.

Video: Karim Benzema almost crashes his car leaving Real Madrid training

Karim Benzema came extremely close to crashing his expensive car outside Real Madrid’s training ground on Sunday.

The Frenchman was pulling out in his white Audi and was seen to give a little wave to a small gathering of fans waiting to catch a glimpse of their idols.

But a blue Ford soon came speeding past Benzema, leaving the striker needing to swerve to narrowly avoid it.

The 28-year-old then drives out of the training ground fast while the blue Ford is in hot pursuit trying to keep up with him, avoiding a speed bump in an attempt to maintain his speed.

It’s unclear who the driver of the other car is, but it’s evident that they were in the wrong in this incident, driving on the left-hand side of the road.

Watch the incident here:

Car troubles

Benzema will be relieved that he wasn't involved in a car crash as he has previously been in trouble on the road.

In 2013, he faced a possible jail sentence after being caught driving at 135mph in his Audi RS5 sports car in a 70mph limit, whilst racing another car.

Karim Benzema Attends Madrid Court

In fact, the police camera actually clocked the car driving at 162mph but failed to take a usable picture of his car.

He has also been caught performing an illegal u-turn - something a lot less dangerous than driving at high speeds but against the law nonetheless.

Blackmail scandal

Off the road, Benzema has also been attracting the attention of police and is under investigation in a much more high-profile controversy.

The Galactico is being questioned about his alleged involvement in a blackmail scandal which involves his French teammate Mathieu Valbuena.

Paris Saint-Germain v Lyon - Coupe de France

Benzema has admitted to lying to Valbuena over the sex tape that is in the centre of the blackmailing case.

The striker said he had told Valbuena that he had seen the tape when actually he hadn't.

"I should have told him I had not seen it," Benzema was quoted as telling the judge.

"I was showing off, I was acting...It's like when you describe a movie you have not seen. I have never seen that video."

Fantastic form

However, it appears that Benzema doesn’t allow his off-field controversies to affect his performances.

Granada CF v Real Madrid CF - La Liga

The former Lyon man has scored 19 goals in 19 appearances in La Liga and 23 in 23 in all competitions.

Ronaldo's incident

It’s not the first time a Real Madrid player has almost crashed their car recently outside the training ground.

Cristiano Ronaldo drove recklessly last month whilst leaving training in an attempt to overtake teammate Jese - swerving around the speed bump much like the blue Ford in the above video.

It’s a mystery why Madrid players are in so much of a hurry to leave the training ground in Valdebebas but if the reckless driving continues, there is bound to be a more serious incident very soon.
