Zlatan Ibrahimovic expects Jose Mourinho to return to management soon

Published 3 Comments

Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that Jose Mourinho will return to football in the near future.

Ibrahimovic, who previously worked under the guidance of Mourinho for one season at Inter Milan, has also admitted that he doesn't know whether he was surprised by the sacking of the revered manager.

Mourinho, of course, was dismissed as manager of Chelsea earlier this season after a disastrous start to the campaign. Despite a disastrous spell domestically, the 'Special One' managed to guide the Blues through to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Chelsea, without Mourinho at the helm, are set to take on Ibrahimovic and Paris Saint-Germain in Europe's elite competition.

Zlatan has his say

“But I believe he will be back soon in football, and if you are a little patient you will soon see him managing another club.

“Am I surprised with the sacking? I don't know. Everything depends on the results and that is the worst part of football. When you don't do well, you get punished, and it's more with the coaches. We don't get fired like the coaches do!”

Jose to United

One thing is for sure, Manchester United fans will be hoping to see Mourinho return to the game shortly.

The ex-Chelsea man has been heavily linked with the top job at Old Trafford recently; Louis van Gaal's tenure in Manchester appears to be coming to an end - United currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League table - and have it all to do to secure a place in next season's Champions League competition.

Sunderland v Manchester United - Premier League

Saturday's defeat at the hands of Premier League strugglers Sunderland was yet another shameful result for the club. Surely, then, with redemption unlikely under Van Gaal, the hierarchy must secure the services of Mourinho imminently.

Winning the Europa League may well be the club's best bet of securing a place in next year's Champions League competition and Mourinho certainly has the credentials to deliver just that.

All is not lost, but Ed Woodward must make his move - Mourinho will not wait forever.
