Liverpool are interested in signing Anderlecht midfielder Dennis Praet, according to The Mirror.

It’s reported that Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the 21-year-old and was interested in buying him during the January transfer window.

However, a concrete offer never materialised but it’s thought that the Reds will be back in for him in the summer.

Enzo Scifo, Belgium’s Under-21 coach has hinted that Praet is set to leave Anderlecht and join an unnamed club in the near future.

"About Praet, I can say he is ready to embark on an adventure with a top club,” Scifo said, as per The Mirror.

Prat’s agent has also suggested that his client will be leaving Belgium at the end of the season by asking: "What can he gain by spending one more season at Anderlecht?”

Praet has played for Belgium throughout every age group but has only received one cap for the national side in a friendly against Iceland, in November 2014.

Anderlecht career

During his youth career playing for Genk, it’s believed that the attacking midfielder attracted the attention of major European clubs such as Arsenal and Barcelona but Anderlecht signed him in May 2010.

Jupiler Pro League - "RSC Anderlecht v KAA Gent"

He is now in his fifth season for Anderlecht’s first-team where he has won three league titles, playing over 150 times in all competitions.

However, Praet’s contract expires at the end of next season and it appears he will seek a new challenge in a major European league.

Klopp keen to build

Klopp is keen to start re-building his Liverpool squad and has already started targeting deals for the summer.

The German, who was appointed as Liverpool boss in October, has already signed Mario Gujic from Red Star Belgrade, with the 19-year-old being loaned back to the Serbian champions.

This week, the club also announced the signing of Joel Matip on a free transfer from Schalke. The Cameroonian will join the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

DFB Pokal - "Schalke o4 v Borussia Monchengladbach"

The club have also been linked with the signing of Borussia Monchengladbach’s Havard Nordtviet whose contract also expires in the summer.

Belgium trio at Anfield

If Praet was the join the club, he would hope to be more of a success than his compatriots at Anfield.

Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has been heavily criticised this season for numerous errors, leading to calls from the fans that Klopp needs to buy a new stopper in the summer.

Leicester City v Liverpool - Premier League

Summer signing Christian Benteke has also come under fire from Kopites with the £32.5 million man having to make do with a place on the bench at the moment.

However, Divock Origi seems a bit more popular with fans - well one fan in particular. Origi scored after just 37 seconds of coming on as a substitute against Aston Villa on Sunday and one fan celebrated with him by planting a big kiss on the striker’s lips.
