Arsenal could make Petr Cech captain this summer

Published 2 Comments

This could well be Mikel Arteta’s final season in an Arsenal shirt - if it is then Arsene Wenger will need to appoint a new club captain. Per Mertesacker has a strong claim due to being vice currently, but it’s now said he could be snubbed in favour of Petr Cech if Arteta leaves. Wenger’s supposedly been left greatly impressed with the former Chelsea stopper, haven’t we all, and he’s prepared to place his faith in Cech’s leadership moving forward. A good move, in our opinion. Now, Danny Welbeck’s last minute winner against Leicester at the weekend not only made a lot of Arsenal fans very happy, but it was also the most tweeted about moment of the Premier League campaign so far. 51 thousand tweets per minute were posted immediately after the goal, pipping Alexis Sanchez’s goal against Man United earlier this season.
