Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has issued a ‘come and get me plea’ to Real Madrid after revealing it would be a “dream” to play for the Bernabeu club.
The 26-year-old is enjoying an incredible season for the German side scoring 20 Bundesliga goals in as many appearances.
The Gabon international’s form has been him linked with a whole host of major European clubs but he insists there is only one side he wants to play for.
"My childhood dream? To play at Real Madrid," he revealed to L’Equipe.
"In 2014, before he died, I promised my grandfather who was from Avila, 110 kilometers from Madrid, that I would play there. It will be complicated, but it sits in a corner of my head.
"When I was a kid, I watched Hugo Sanchez videos. The backflip I sometimes do when I score is actually an homage to him,” he concluded.
Aubameyang's Dortmund career
The striker was signed by former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp from Saint-Etienne in July 2013, and has enjoyed an impressive two-and-a-half seasons at the Westfalenstadion.
It’s hardly surprising he is being linked with the best clubs in Europe with a record of 71 goals in 126 matches in all competitions during his time in Germany.
Summer raid on Dortmund?
The statement from the African football of the year award comes just one day after Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan reportedly told Spanish publication Sport that he will be joining Manchester City in the summer.
The club will be hoping to stave off interest for their best players in the summer but it seems they’re facing a losing battle, with the heads of some of their biggest stars being turned by European heavyweights.
The club are having a decent campaign sitting second in the league but are eight points behind leader Bayern Munich.
Although their chances of winning the Bundesliga are unrealistic, they are still competing in two different cup competitions. They beat Porto 2-0 in the first-leg of their round of 32 in the Europa League while they are through to the semi-final of the the DFB-pokal cup where they face Hertha Berlin.
