The UFC world was left in shock yesterday when news broke that Rafael dos Anjos had pulled out of his UFC 196 fight against Conor McGregor.

The hype surrounding the lightweight title bout was huge and, as you might expect, the news left a lot of fans unhappy. In fact, many of them have speculated dos Anjos isn't injured at all and is simply running scared from his Irish rival.

Reports suggest dos Anjos broke his foot late last week so it is unclear whether the photos were taken soon after the injury occurred or were a direct response to those fans calling him out.

Regardless, it certainly looks a painful one for the lightweight champion and it makes sense that he is unable to face McGregor on March 5.

The UFC will be hoping dos Anjos can make a speedy recovery so they can give the fans the McGregor fight at a later date.

UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor

For now, though, they have had to act quickly to find a replacement opponent for the Irishman at UFC 196.

It was announced late last night that Nate Diaz is the man to have received the call-up. Considering his recent comments about McGregor, it is sure to be a heated affair even if it isn't the one UFC fans had been expecting.
