Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has won his battle to convince Greek midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos to stay at the Reebok Stadium and a one-year loan deal has been agreed with Juventus for Croatian international Igor Tudor.

Club chairman Phil Gartside, speaking after the Trotters drew Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the first round of the UEFA Cup, confirmed talks were ongoing with Tudor in a bid to agree personal terms after Allardyce had earlier stated that Stelios had signed a new three-year contract.

Gartside told PA Sport: "We have agreed it with Juventus and we have been talking to the player for a couple of days. It´s just a question of getting him to Bolton and telling him what Bolton is all about and if we can do that then we will have got a good signing."
