Memphis Depay showed against FC Midtjylland last night why Manchester United paid PSV Eindhoven £25 million for his services.
The Netherlands international set up the all-important equalising goal, terrorised the Midtjylland defence all evening, and capped off a brilliant individual display with a superb late strike as the Red Devils booked their place in the Europa League last-16 draw with a 5-1 victory at Old Trafford.
Memphis produced one moment of magic - a trick pass - that went viral across social media on Thursday night, but there was another moment of individual brilliance from the Dutchman that went under the radar. (Scroll down this page to watch it).

Standing with his back to André Romer, Memphis brilliantly nutmegged his opponent, who couldn’t handle the tricky winger and was sent off in the closing stages of the match, before spinning and using his pace to burst away.
United fans are hoping Thursday night’s performance represents a turning point for the 22-year-old, who has flattered to deceive since arriving at Old Trafford last summer.

Difficult start to life at United for Memphis
Handed the club’s iconic number seven shirt prior to the start of the 2015-16 campaign, the Old Trafford faithful optimistically hoped that Memphis would follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo.
He was the best player in the Eredivisie last season - scoring 22 goals in 30 matches - and appeared to possess all the tools required to succeed in the Premier League.
Quick, strong and skillful, it’s a surprise that Memphis has failed to hit the ground running in England’s top division.
Many fans have been highly critical of the winger’s attitude - images of the young Dutchman partying and driving expensive cars haven’t helped his reputation - but more performances like last night’s and it won’t take long to win them all over.
Memphis hails Ryan Giggs
Memphis, who has scored six goals in 32 appearances for the Red Devils, revealed earlier this week that he’s been having personal tuition from Ryan Giggs - and it appears to be having the desired effect.
"Ryan Giggs is a legend," Depay was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. "He talks a lot with me and gives me advice to equip me. He has experienced everything already so he helps with all kinds of things, he works a lot with me.
"[Working with Giggs] makes me even hungrier on the training ground, it makes me want to try new things.
"I ask him for advice because he's been there; he knows how to read the circumstances, how to handle situations. It is really inspiring and, at the same time, helpful."
