Stone Cold Steve Austin says The Wyatt Family are being misused

Published 5 Comments

Since making their main roster debut back in July 2013, The Wyatt Family was one of the hottest acts in the WWE.

Within a year, The Wyatts had feuded with Kane, Daniel Bryan, and The Shield. Their leader, Bray Wyatt, had a match against John Cena in his first WrestleMania. The group truly had captured the imagination of the WWE Universe straight off the bat.

However, things died down as The Wyatts were split into single competitors and Bray was dubbed The New Face of Fear, which didn't live up to expectation. The Undertaker defeat at WrestleMania 31 killed Bray's momentum dearly, and that only began a downwards spiral.

The Wyatt Family was brought back together not long afterwards, as Bray had a long feud with Roman Reigns, which ended in defeat overall, followed by a loss to The Brothers of Destruction at Survivor Series, and most recently, a loss to Kane, Ryback and the Big Show at Fastlane.

The introduction of Braun Strowman has boosted The Wyatt Family a little, but overall, poor booking by the WWE has placed them lower on the WWE ladder than where they should be. According to Wrestling Inc, Stone Cold Steve Austin said on his podcast that The Wyatt Family was one of the hottest acts in the WWE not long ago, but they have been misused for a while.

He said: "[WWE have] really homogenized The Wyatt Family. They've got great music. They've got a great entrance. Bray cuts a hell of a promo and Luke Harper is starting to cut great promos. He has drastically improved too and I know this guy's a veteran guy.

"These guys were some of the hottest guys in the company a year [or] a year and a half ago. Here we are now and, I mean, just quite frankly, it is what it is. They don't mean what they should to this company. And Bray Wyatt, being the leader of this faction, is taking a huge hit. And that's a travesty of booking right there because, again, these are some very talented guys within The Wyatt Family structure."

There is still plenty of time to save The Wyatt Family but it's strange to think with the number of pushes Bray Wyatt has had, battling the likes of Reigns, Cena, and The Undertaker, he has never won a WWE title. Not a single one.

Bray is a brilliant talker on the mic and has shown great in-ring ability, but overall, he hasn't been utilised in the WWE, which is a real shame. As mentioned by Stone Cold, Harper is improving vastly too, and so are Erick Rowan and Strowman. Now is the time to give them feuds which they deserve, and can actually come out on top of.

Hopefully, the company realises the potential they're missing out on with The Wyatt Family and give them the right push before it's too late.
