The Los Angeles Lakers stunned the NBA with a 112-95 win over the league-leading Golden State Warriors on Sunday night, but the result wasn't the only attention-grabbing part of the game.
That's because the entire Lakers roster donned 'Kobe Bryant-styled socks' during the Staples Center contest - in the process becoming the first team in NBA history to wear equipment honouring a current player.
Stance, the NBA's official on-court sock provider, created and supplied the socks that were on show against the Warriors.

As well as the '2' and '4' design which got a run out as the Lakers overran the reigning champions yesterday, there are also two other versions which will be available to fans.

Considering the upturn in fortunes when wearing the socks, perhaps the LA franchise should keep the trend going and wear the garments for the remainder of the regular season.
It was definitely a cool new twist on Bryant's farewell tour and Kobe himself joked that the socks had an impact on Sunday's result:
"How about that? The power of the socks. It's got to be the socks," said the soon-to-be-retiring star, via Serena Winters of Lakers Nation.
"I think it's cool, man," he continued, via ESPN. "It's cool to do stuff like that.
"My kids freaked out when they saw the other version of the socks that had my afro on the side. They thought that was pretty sweet. But it was fun to be a part of."
When looking to explain the Lakers win over GSW, head coach Byron Scott will likely point to a dogged defensive effort and great performances from his young backcourt duo of Jordan Clarkson and D'Angelo Russell, rather than the accessories worn by his team.
Still, the fact the socks were on show as the Lakers caused one of the biggest upsets in NBA history won't exactly harm their chances of becoming a must have with Kobe, and Lakers, fans.
The players might be buying into the socks' status as a lucky charm too. This after ESPN reported members of the roster have already asked to wear them again before the campaign comes to an end.
What is clear, however - from the sock design to Bryant's overall reception since announcing his retirement - is that the Black Mamba's legacy in the game is sure to live on well beyond his final appearance on the court.
You never know, if the Lakers keep winning whilst wearing the Kobe socks the franchise might just have to incorporate one of their biggest ever stars into their famous uniform.
