Death by a thousand 'wow, he really is human' tweets. Yep, you guessed it - Lionel Messi has missed a penalty.
The usually-deadly Argentinian forward set the internet ablaze this afternoon when he missed from 12 yards against Getafe this afternoon. Not that it matters too much, mind; the Catalan club are 3-0 up before half-time.
Still, plenty of fans (presumably supporters of Cristiano Ronaldo) didn't miss the opportunity to lay into Messi - who, given his talent, has a pretty dismal record from the penalty spot.
The 28-year-old's miss - which in fairness came about from a decent save from Getafe goalkeeper Guaita - is Barcelona's eighth miss from the spot this term, which is a new record for La Liga.
The miss also means that Messi holds the rather unwanted record of missing the most penalties for Barcelona in La Liga (8), one more than previous holder Samuel Eto'o.
Despite the miss, Messi has still been able to contribute to Barcelona's commanding position against Getafe, bagging himself two assists.
The first came when he teed up youngster Munir to round off a superb team goal (watch here), before he helped Neymar get on the scoresheet with just 32 minutes gone. An own goal from Juan Rodriguez had opened the scoring.
The three points that are inevitably coming Barcelona's way today will help tighten the club's grasp on the Spanish league title, which was pretty firm even before today's match.
Luis Enrique's side were eight points clear of Atletico Madrid and 12 points clear of Real Madrid going into today's action. Both Madrid sides will have the chance to strike back when they take on Deportivo la Coruna and Las Palmas respectively this weekend.
Update: Lionel Messi has added a fourth before half-time. It was pretty special too.
