Would Jamie Vardy get into Liverpool’s starting line-up? What about his Leicester City teammate Riyad Mahrez?
They wouldn’t make Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven according to Liverpool supporter Steve, who left people scratching their heads with his rant on talkSPORT this week.
Steve is probably the only football fan in the country who hasn’t been impressed with the Leicester duo. In fact, he hasn’t been impressed with the Foxes full stop - even though they sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League table with eight matches remaining.

“They have two players, which is Vardy and Mahrez - that’s it,” Steve told talkSPORT, per the Mirror. “They will not do very well in Europe, it will be an embarrassment for the Premier League. Europe is laughing at the Premier League at the moment.”
When told by talkSPORT presenter Jason Cundy that most of Leicester’s key players would walk into the Liverpool team, Steve was having none of it.
Steve isn't a big fan of Vardy or Mahrez
“Vardy is a very good player,” he added, “but they’re already saying he should be in the England team. No - he is a one-year wonder. Wait and see what he does next year.
“As for Mahrez, he’s a very good player but he wouldn’t be in the Liverpool team, I can assure you.
“We have no interest in buying those two players. No interest whatsoever.”
Vardy and Mahrez have been superb
The talkSPORT presenters should have reminded Steve that Mahrez has scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists in the Premier League this season.
The Algeria international is a serious contender to win the PFA’s Premier League Player of the Season award following a remarkable campaign.
Vardy is also in contention to win the prestigious individual accolade after scoring 19 goals and provided seven assists in the league this term.
The 29-year-old also broke Ruud van Nistelrooy’s long-standing record for goals scored in consecutive Premier League matches earlier this season.
They would walk into Liverpool's line-up
By contrast, Liverpool’s top perform in the Premier League has probably been summer signing Roberto Firmino - there aren’t too many contenders, to be truthful - who has scored eight goals and registered eight assists.
Would Vardy get into the Liverpool line-up ahead of Christian Benteke and the injury-prone Daniel Sturridge? Certainly on the form he has shown this season, yes.
Would Mahrez get in ahead of Adam Lallana? While the England international’s performances have improved in recent weeks, he’s not come close to matching the magnificent displays of Mahrez.
Sorry, Steve, but we think you need a lie down mate.
