The Liverpool Echo rated Mamadou Sakho as Man of the Match against Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday night while Jamie Carragher described the Liverpool defender as “immense” on Twitter.
But judging by his comical interruption during Dejan Lovren’s post-match interview, Sakho clearly believes his fellow centre-back deserved just as much credit for the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
Lovren was talking to a reporter after the full-time whistle when Sakho, out of nowhere, came in and planted a kiss on the Croatia international’s cheek. (Scroll down this page to see the video).

Sakho and Lovren were impressive as a centre-back partnership at Old Trafford and Liverpool fans will now hope they are able to replicate the same level of performance over the coming weeks.
“Sakho immense, Lovren excellent,” Carragher tweeted last night, “keep going like that & they may save Klopp a few bob in the summer.”

Lovren 'strong and uncomplicated'
Lovren was described as “strong and uncomplicated” by the Liverpool Echo against United - but the 26-year-old has, for the most part, struggled at Anfield following his £20 million move from Southampton in the summer of 2014.
“He's cutting the errors out and proving his doubters wrong,” the Echo added - and it’s hard to disagree.
Lovren: Klopp has saved my Liverpool career
Lovren puts his recent turnaround in fortunes down to the arrival of Jurgen Klopp.
“To be honest I was always happy to be here from the first day, but sometimes it goes well, sometimes not. Sometimes you need time,” the 26-year-old was quoted as telling the Express, per the Echo, earlier this week.
“It depends on people who manage you well. In the time, since Jurgen has come things have changed a lot.
“I changed also because I really like his work. This pressing and, I would say, the need to be always 100% ready for the fight in the training and in matches.
“I will not say Jurgen gave me the confidence, but he gave me like the push: ‘Hey, you are a good player and here is your chance. Take it’.
“I took it. I am here still.”
Joel Matip and Martin Skrtel
Both Lovren and Sakho will face additional competition from Joel Matip from the start of next season.
The Cameroon international has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Reds after deciding to leave Schalke at the end of the current campaign.
Martin Skrtel is also still at the club but has missed the last two months with a hamstring injury and was sent off for Liverpool’s Under-21 team against West Ham earlier this week.
The Slovakia international turns 32 next season and Klopp may feel the time is coming to move him on.
