Cristiano Ronaldo's footballing career will be forever remembered as one of the most prolific stints the game has ever witnessed.
The Portuguese forward may not be adored by the Real Madrid faithful as much as he should be, nor has he produced a volume of jaw-dropping footballing masterclasses as his arch enemy for supremacy, Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
However, his brutal efficiency in front of goal should be something which is recognised as one of the finest ever sporting feats. After all, goals are the most important factor in the most competitive game on earth.

GOAL DROUGHT? FORGET ABOUT IT
Since putting on the famous white shirt of Madrid, Ronaldo has shattered nearly every goal scoring record which was previously held by a whole host of adored legends at the club.
The most staggering accolade of all in this list? Displacing Spanish legend Raul at the top of the scoring charts in nearly half the games, boasting a frightening goal ratio of over one per-game.

To achieve a statistic of that magnitude at a club like Madrid is nothing short of remarkable. He also holds the record for most goals scored for the club in La Liga, European competitions and international competitions.
Combine that with the most goals in a single season in all competitions - 61, most league goals in a season - 48, and a simply ridiculous 36 hat-tricks in Spanish football, Ronaldo has without question solidified his position as the world's most efficient goal machine.
CONSISTENCY LIKE NEVER BEFORE
The general consensus when it comes to both Messi and Ronaldo is that they have set consistency standards that no player in the history of the game has come close to matching.
Every week, scorecards seem to be etched with their prestigious names, while volumes of goals are accumulated for fun every season and calendar year.
In terms of pure goal scoring, I believe Ronaldo wins the battle, but only just. To score 50 goals or more in four consecutive seasons is a mark of consistency that not even the Argentine can match.
The Madrid forward has also recorded goals in every minute of a match possible, a statistic that when you actually take the time to analyse it properly, is simply outrageous.
Football has had some great goal scorers in its time, from Gerd Muller to Pele but none, in my opinion, bare in comparison to the duo we see today.
It is time to fully respect the achievements of one of football's most arrogant yet brilliant sons. Messi is probably the greatest player of all time, but Ronaldo is football's most finely crafted goal machine, ever.
