She admitted that she had 'been to many dark places' while also revealing that she wanted to pretend that she no longer existed.
In a statement read out in court, she said: “Ultimately it was like I was being taunted as if to say that he could do whatever he wants and get away with it. I have been to many dark places over these 12 months.
“I just wanted to pretend I didn’t exist and that this wasn’t real.”
The victim's mother also described how her family had gone through a great deal of pain over the last year, claiming that she has felt helpless.
She said: “My family has taken no satisfaction in seeing the impact this has had on Adam Johnson’s family,” said the mother. “As a mother I have felt helpless.”
The victim was a young Sunderland supporter and was a season ticket holder at the Stadium of Light.
The Judge, meanwhile, claimed that Johnson made a 'deliberate decision to engage in sexual activity' with a child and had hoped to get away with it.
Rose stated, as per The Guardian: “You made a deliberate decision to engage in sexual activity with this young girl and to ignore the fact that she was only 15, no doubt in the hope and expectation that you would get away with it because both she and you would delete all WhatsApp messages referring to your contact and because you thought you could rely on her to tell no one, just as you had asked.”
