Aside from both being Spanish, Juan Mata and Gerard Pique have something else in common: Manchester United.
Mata currently plays for the Red Devils, while Pique spent the early part of his career at Old Trafford before signing for Barcelona.
And in his weekly blog, Mata admitted United is a regular topic of conversation whenever the two make contact.

The former Chelsea midfielder wrote: “I don't know how many of you know this, but, for example, in the Under 19 team that won the Euro Cup we had players like Gerard Pique (and he was already joking all the time although he didn't use Periscope back then!) and some other good players that are not in the national team right now.
“Obviously, another thing I share with Pique is that he was a ‘Red Devil’ also, and we talk about the team every now and then because he understands the greatness of this club.”
The two are currently away on international duty as Spain continue their preparations for the European Championships.
Both featured in the draws against Italy and Romania and, though they were unable to win any of the warm-up games, Mata insists it has been a positive break for Vicente del Bosque’s side.
“Overall, it's been a good training week,” the 27-year-old added. “It's always positive to spend time with your Spanish team-mates, some of which are friends of mine since we were 18.”
Hat-trick of titles
Spain are looking to make it a hat-trick of European titles but they are third-favourites with the bookmakers, behind World Cup winners Germany and hosts France.
After a miserable 2014 World Cup in which they failed to get out of their group, Spain have a score to settle with their rivals.
