A group of experienced prisoners have given an insight into what Adam Johnson can expect in prison.

And one criminal has given an explicit retelling of an incident he once saw happen to a sex offender. Johnson will serve a six-year sentence for sex offences.

The former Sunderland winger was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on Friday for child sex crimes. He was jailed after being found guilty of grooming and having sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.

Johnson was told by Judge Jonathan Rose: “To put it another way, she had only just turned 15 when you began grooming her, because, as you were to admit, you found her sexually attractive,” per The Guardian.

It isn’t known where Johnson will serve his sentence but some of the prisoners’ stories make for harrowing reading.

One prisoner named Charles is nearing the end of a sentence for manslaughter. He is quoted by the Mirror as telling Vice about one explicit attack on a sex offender.

“They held him down, cut him across the nips, his face, his c***, and then one of the lads stuck a blade in his a***,” Charles recounted.

"The biggest mistake he could make would be to stay on the nonce wing for a second longer than he has to. He ain't touched a baby or a ten-year-old, but the longer he stays tucked up with that kind of scum the more suspicious other prisoners will get."

Millionaire strops

Charles, 45, gave Johnson a piece of advice that he should follow to avoid any nasty incidents.

“He's only got himself to blame, and it's certainly not the place to be pulling any millionaire strops,” Charles said.

But Carl, 27, doesn’t expect Johnson to face any trouble inside.

Carl, serving his 24th sentence after stealing a pasty, reckons Johnson will be forced to move prisons several times due to his status but doubts he will be seriously targeted.

“B******s,” Carl said when his interviewer showed him an article that suggested Johnson is considering hiring protection while inside.

"Nothing he'd need to be scared of"

“Yeah, you’ll get the odd k**b trying to test him - probably some absolute f***y trying to make a name for himself - but nothing he’d need to be scared of,” Carl continued.

“Just slap the c**t back and you’ll be alright, problem solved.”

James, 30, agrees.

He has been sentenced to six years for his involvement in a drug conspiracy and, when asked how he would react to finding out Johnson is his new pad-mate, admitted he wouldn’t care.

“To be honest, as long as he wasn’t trying any big-time s**t, I wouldn’t be that a***d,” James said. “It’s not like he’s a paedo.

“If he gets stuck in, pulls his weight, helps out with fitness and gym, he’ll be treated like any other t**t in here.”
