Ian Rush reckons Aaron Ramsey would be a perfect fit for Barcelona.
The Liverpool legend’s extraordinary claim comes on the day he is reported to have called Daniel Sturridge “one of the best players in the world”.
And Rush found the time to praise Ramsey by admitting it is “no coincidence” that he has been linked with the European and Spanish champions.

Rumours linking the Welsh midfielder with Barcelona have never had much substance - although he did admit Barca’s apparent interest was “very flattering” - and it’s hard to imagine Ramsey ever making the leap.
Yet Rush has confidence that Ramsey couldn’t just sign for the Spanish giants - he would walk into their team.

“I think he’s a great player, fantastic,” the former Wales international is quoted by FourFourTwo as telling Wales Online. “People who criticise him don’t know enough in my opinion.
“He's a match-winner, his energy is vital and I think he's a big part of Arsenal's play.
“It's no coincidence that people talk about him and Barcelona, he's one of those that could easily play in that league.
“I think the way Barcelona play suits him. Aaron likes to get forward and score goals, and his sense of duty in midfield would be less there than it is at Arsenal.
“He would be a great pick if he went somewhere like that.”
Barca are loaded in midfield
Barcelona certainly aren’t short of midfield talent - Ramsey would have to leapfrog Andres Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic and Arda Turan in the pecking order - but rumours linking the two parties were rife even as late as last summer.
Talk of a £50 million transfer was widespread and Ramsey even admitted he wants to play in Spain one day.
He told The Guardian last year: “Obviously it’s very flattering. They did the treble last year and it’s just really nice to be linked with one of the best clubs in the world.
“One day I would like to go over to Spain to play just to see what it’s like and to experience that. But at the moment I’m with Arsenal and I feel like this Arsenal team can go and be successful and challenge for things.”
Barca are Europe's best
Arsenal have challenged for things but not with the same level of intent as Barcelona.
Whereas Luis Enrique’s team are competing for the La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League, Arsenal’s only hope of silverware is via the Premier League, where they trail Leicester by 11 points.
Ramsey would jump at the chance to join Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in Catalonia. The fact that he is still playing at the Emirates Stadium suggests Barca just aren’t that interested.
