It's been over two years since CM Punk decided enough was enough and he left the WWE following the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
It has also been an age since the former professional wrestler decided to turn his hands to Mixed Martial Arts and was given a contract by Dana White and the UFC, who naturally saw money signs in the form of Punk.
However, Punk decided that he wasn't going to fight for about a year after being signed by the promotion, instead preferring to focus on training and becoming a real fighter. Unfortunately, Punk has had a series of setbacks, which he explained in a recent interview.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, Punk gave an update on the back injury that needed surgery, finally saying what had happened.
"As far as back surgery goes, I don't think it was the most serious thing, but it certainly wasn't a walk in the park. I basically had a herniated disc...and it was pushing on a nerve," Punk revealed.
That's not the only injury that Punk has had to suffer with, revealing that his wife - fellow former WWE star AJ Lee - nearly threw up after seeing how bad his hernia was.
With the prospect of facing Mickey Gall while suffering from several different injuries suffered during his wrestling career, Punk decided he needed to go under the knife.
"I felt like s--t about it. I wanted to tell everybody, but it was also a case of let's just see where this goes and see what happens. I got the MRI Friday night and I was literally diagnosed Saturday, right before I walked out to watch Mickey and Michael Jackson fight," Punk said.
We're all waiting for Punk to finally make his debut in the UFC, but it still doesn't look like it's going to happen for a few months. Just like over a year ago, we still don't know if CM Punk can cut it in MMA. Until he steps in that octagon, the Chicago made superstar is nothing more an enigman - Schrodinger's fighter.
